Modern Woodland

Client Brief:

A new-built home on a piece of land made shady by large Cedar trees called for some re-thinking of the standard turf lawn. Our clients wanted to provide a large space for entertaining their family and plenty of room for grand-kids to explore.

We developed a plan to remove much of the mossy turf and place in its stead, a curvy path that wanders through ephemeral woodland inspired beds, leading to a modern take on a treehouse that was inspired by the clients find in a magazine. Spaces for enteraining include gabion benches, a large bluestone patio and built-in BBQ. Not far from the entertaining area, raised veggie beds and fruit trees provide quick additions to Summer-time salads.
